API State Sporting Carnival – Coolangatta 2018

Planning is well under way for the 2018 API State Sporting Carnival and this year’s event is sure to be another fantastic week filled with plenty of sporting activities and sightseeing around Cooloongatta and the local area. If you would love to explore this great part of Queensland, why not take the opportunity the join fellow API members on the sporting courts, lanes and courses and share a fun-filled week. The event will include a range of sporting and social activities including a Meet’n’Greet, local sightseeing and the Carnival Dinner.

API State President’s Golf Day!
The Annual API State President’s Day was played at Gailes Golf Club on Sunday, 8th July 2018.
This was the 22nd year the event was held and attending members and guests enjoyed playing on a championship course in excellent conditions.
The team event was won by the ‘The Invincibles’, with a score of 305. The winning team was captained by Craig Lister and included players Aaron Chong, Gary Menegon, Brad Richards, Roger Vinton and Darryl Woods.
‘The Balaclavas’ were the runners up on a score of 308. The team was captained by Jenny Barling, joined by players Greg Crombie, Brian Saltzer and Ian Sillman.
Last year’s winning team captained by Mark Stanton came in third this year on a score of 310.
1st Division winner with an AGU Handicap, was Aaron Chong on 72 nett, followed by runner up Ati Lam Sam on 74 nett.
2nd Division winner was Brian Saltzer on 73 nett and runner up Craig Lister on 75 nett.
Ladies winner Jenny Barling finished on 74 nett and runner up Kerry Jespersen on 77 nett.
The Callaway Handicap winner was Jim Williams on 76 nett with runner up Paul Foley on 78 nett.
‘Nearest the Pins’ were won by Ian Sillman on the 3rd Hole, Jenny Barling on the 6th hole and Craig Lister on the 12th hole.
Thanks were extended to API Management for organising the day and for providing the trophies.

The group plays 18 Sundays thoughtout the year, mainly on Brisbane courses, with some games extending to the Gold Coast and Caboolture, wand getaway long weekends to Toowoomba.
